Is it worth having video?

An important thing to bear in mind when planning your multimedia project is that compared to just using audio and still pictures, video is much:

more complex

more expensive

more demanding of computing power

harder to distribute

It is therefore important to ask yourself whether it is really necessary.

For example, some people believe that in a recorded lecture or presentation there is no need to have a video picture of the presenter. However others feel that the video picture helps communicate the personality and authority of the speaker and his or her enthusiasm for the subject, and to show things like where he or she gives emphasis. Nevertheless arguably it is possible to present the talk without video if necessary.
